During the distance learning phase the participants will improve their abilities in:
- critically reviewing the main Public Health and Health Promotion trends in their local and national context and in a wider European and global perspective;
- describing and discussing health and health promotion programmes in their own countries;
- describing, based on the previous points, the main challenges for public health, and critically assess the relation between these challenges and health promotion principles.
During the summer school phase the participants will improve their abilities in:
- understanding, discussing and applying Health Promotion principles and methods in a concrete context;
- designing a multinational / multisectoral Health Promotion project, integrating different approaches;
- participating in an intersectoral and international work environment.
Participants are organized into groups. Each group will select a research or intervention project, prepare project proposals and make final presentations including a project poster.
The Summer School consists of eight learning weeks: the first six weeks will be delivered as a distance learning module, followed by a two-week intensive course.
The course methods include introductory presentations from the course team, self-study, group work, problem solving and other forms of peer-based learning. Expert briefings and field visits are included.
The course is run at Master’s level. It has been reviewed by ASPHER, the Association of Schools of Public Health in Europe. All members of the Consortium are involved in European projects.
The course meets the requirements of the European Dimension of Health Promotion module, part of the EUMAHP core curriculum, and thereby can be credited towards EUMAHP partner courses with 8 ECTS.
Participants – who should come?
The participants may come from public health, health promotion, all levels of health care, education, social work as well as research, management and policy backgrounds. The number of participants is limited to 30.
